Accessing the control panel is done by entering http://www.yourdomain.co.za:5555 into the address bar of your website. (obviously you must substitute the yourdomain.co.za for your unique domain name)
It has come to our attention that ADSL users have difficulty accessing the control panel, especially on the international server.
The reason for this is that Telkom shapes the bandwidth allocation on different ports - particularly when connecting to international sites. The control panel runs on port 5555 and Telkom (SAIX) have set this is a low proirity port. The result is that the control panel becomes unbearably slow - sometimes to the point of being unusable.
Fortunately there is a workaround that involves setting a proxy server.
Follow these steps
1: Open Internet Explorer 2: Click on Tools and then select internet options 3: Click on the "Connections" tab in the window that opens 4: Click on Lan Settings 5: Make sure proxy server is ticked 6: In the address field enter cache.saix.net 7: In the port field enter 8080 8: Click on OK 9: Close all open Internet Explorer windows and then open Internet explorer again
Your control panel access should now be considerably faster.
Our apologies for this but there is really very little we can do about it while Telkom sticks to its policy of shaping ADSL bandwidth
