The control panel allows you to modify the read / write and execute permissions of the various folders on your website. You will need to do this if you are employing scripts that write information to a database, spreadsheet, text file or other file or if you are wanting to upload images and files from your browser.
If you are not sure then you should leave these settings as they are.
To do this
1: Log in to the control panel - How do I do this?
2: Click on "Web Permissions" (On the left hand side of the screen, the third item under "Admin")
3: Underneath the FP extensions box there will be a list of the folders that exist on your website. Each one will have a row of boxes informing you whether the user (that's your website visitor) will be able to read information, write information and execute scripts.
4: Tick the relevant boxes according to the requirements of your site.
5: Click change once you are done.
You can also set the name of the default page that will load when only the url is typed into the browser's address bar. Click settings next to the folder in question and a list of files in the order that the server will use to determine which page displays. |
